Good mental health is fundamental to the wellbeing of individuals, their families, and the whole population. I am an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker and Behavioural Therapist. Since becoming a Social Worker in 2007 I have been acknowledged as a behavioral practitioner specialising in Trauma and related Mental Health illnesses. I bring into my practice a lived experience of much of what I counsel. My foundation for practice is East meets West approach. Empathy, Congruence and Unconditional Positive Regard with a down to earth approach backed by experience and qualifications.
I am also a qualified Social Work Supervisor and if your a social worker seeking to go into private practice then I am more than happy to supervise you on your AASW application journey and beyond this into your role as a new practitoner . Brief background HistoryAttended schools in Bendigo. Royal Aust Army : 2 years (Med Disch) : Medic 1st Fd / 2 Mil Hospital Ingleburn NSW. Nursing 13 yrs : RCH Melb, Sunhine Hosp, Bendigo Hosp, Castlemaine Hosp. Victoria Police 4 years : Bendigo. I have 7 children and 2 grandchildren. My 3rd, 4th and 5th were born with Spina Bifida. After the death of our third child with Spina Bifida in 2002, I returned to study at LaTrobe Uni Bendigo to become a Social Worker (2007). During this time I also completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma, Loss and Grief counselling with Flinders Uni S.A. (2005). Quickly following this was further training in Trauma exposure therapy with the Centre for Post Traumatic Mental Health- Phoenix Centre melbourne. I have also competed CISM training and Advanced Conflict Mediation training.
In 2013 I took a career detour and spent 4 years with Victoria Police before leaving due to nature of the job. I have returned to my role as mental health practitioner with a much more appreciative view of the world. Feb 2018 ; I completed My Reiki training spanning 7 years and am now a Reiki master teacher. Apr 2021 ; I completed Adv Dip Clinical Hypnotherapy. We must learn to achieve harmony and balance within ourselves. Once this is obtained, we are then able to achieve unity with mind, body, spirit and the universe. In this realisation, we then enter the state of oneness and totality with all things, in which we seek no more of life’s gains; for we have continuity and harmony within ourselves and with all that surrounds us. Message received through meditation 2001.
